Maryana was born in Lviv,Ukraine, now resides in New York. She attended Fashion Institute of Technology,New York Accademy of Fine Art and Art Students League. She was studying under established artists such as Frank Mason,Richard Pionk,Greg Krautz,Michael Burban,Costa Vavaviakis.
Her subject matter comes from the thoughts, surroundings, and emotions. Each of her paintings is unique, colorful, and captivating, evoking the imagination and inspiring the viewer. She captures a wealth of emotions in a single moment, exploring such universal themes as love, ambition, determination and self-discovery.Ms.Beletskaya's mysterious sitters' craggled, lined faces and wrinkled hands are a metaphor for individuals who have shared a long and challenging journey through life.Introducing us to the persona and personality hidden beneath the subject of the canvas. Her provocative canvases implore us to question what is "beautiful".Shining the spotlight on old,life-worn faces and weather-beaten hands, she imparts solemnity and dignity onto the subject.Every huunting detail engages the viewer and invites us to participate in a conversation with the subject. Each meticulous folding of the subject's drapery enhances a magnitude of contemplation and care.Pictorial clarity and excellence of composition are emblematic of the powerful portrait medium.Following the grand portrait tradition of Rembrandt,Van Dyke,Van Gogh and Lucien Freud,Ms.Beletskaya is a contemporary master who reveals the beatiful in the unbeautiful : discovering the profound in the unnoticed.
Maryana’s artwork has been displayed in various shows and galleries around the world as well as published in several magazines and books. She won several awards in shows and competitions such as Strathmore Papers Artist Illustration Contest,"Favorite Subject" by International Artist Magazine,Juried Pen & Brush Exhibition,The American Juried Art Salon Exhibition, and many more. Most recently she had recieved Best in Painting Award and Samarra Mbenga Awards in juried competition "Celebrate HerStory 2009" from Manhattan Arts International. Her work can also be found in private collections throughout the United States and Europe
